University of Hyderabad Nominated as Lead Knowledge Institution (LKI) for Government of Telangana under NITI Aayog’s State Support Mission

 

The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has achieved a significant milestone by being formally nominated as the Lead Knowledge Institution (LKI) for the Government of Telangana under the State Support Mission (SSM) of NITI Aayog, Government of India. The nomination has been communicated by the Planning Department, Government of Telangana, recognizing UoH’s multidisciplinary expertise and research capabilities to support evidence-based governance and policy transformation in the State.

Under this prestigious initiative, the University will contribute to strengthening the State’s institutional capacities through research-based policy inputs, technical expertise, monitoring & evaluation frameworks, data analytics, sectoral studies, and capacity building support. UoH will work closely with the Planning Department and relevant Government agencies to develop actionable policy recommendations and thematic action plans aligned with Telangana’s developmental priorities.

The engagement is expected to cover multiple strategic sectors, including Economics & Finance, Agriculture & Allied sector, Industry & Infrastructure, Social Sectors (Health & Education), Technology & Entrepreneurship, Urban Development, Data Analytics & Monitoring, and Human Resource & Capacity Building. This initiative will play an important role in supporting the Government of Telangana in aligning the State’s developmental priorities, institutional capacities, and evidence-based policy frameworks towards achieving the broader Vision 2047 goals, ensuring inclusive, sustainable, and innovation-driven growth.

Expressing her happiness on this achievement, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor i/C, Prof. J.Anuradha stated:

“The nomination of the University of Hyderabad as the Lead Knowledge Institution (LKI) for the Government of Telangana under the State Support Mission is a matter of immense pride for the entire University community. We express our sincere gratitude to the Government of Telangana, particularly the Planning Department, for reposing confidence in the University of Hyderabad and selecting us for this important responsibility.” She further added  that: “ This initiative presents an excellent opportunity for our faculty and researchers to translate academic knowledge into actionable policy support and public impact. I encourage faculty members across Schools, Departments, and Centres to actively contribute and work collaboratively in making this partnership a model of university–government engagement for the benefit of the people of Telangana “.

She also emphasized that: “With the R&D Cell coordinating this mission and active participation from concerned academic units, I am confident that the University of Hyderabad will make a strong and meaningful contribution toward evidence-based governance, institutional strengthening, and inclusive development in the State to achieve the broader vision 2047 goals.”
