In a notable scholarly contribution to diaspora studies, Prof. Ajaya K. Sahoo of the Centre for the Study of Indian Diaspora (CSID), University of Hyderabad (UoH), along with three alumni of the Centre—Dr. Anindita Shome, Dr. Shazia Khan, and Dr. Surabhi K.—have jointly published a new book titled “Indian Transnationalism: Gender, Culture, and Identity.” Released in October 2026 by the internationally reputed academic publisher Routledge (Taylor & Francis), the volume highlights the strong research synergy between UoH faculty and its doctoral alumni.

The book offers an in-depth examination of the complex intersections among gender dynamics, cultural practices, evolving identities, and transnational networks. By bringing together diverse critical perspectives, the publication explores the lived experiences, social negotiations, and structural transformations that continuously shape contemporary Indian transnational communities across the globe.

This publication marks a significant milestone for the Centre for the Study of Indian Diaspora at UoH, reinforcing its standing as a premier hub for high-impact research on international migration, cultural identity, and global Indian communities.
