Dr. Siddhartha Anandesi, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at the Office of the Dean Students’ Welfare, University of Hyderabad (UoH), has been conferred with the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Excellence Award–2026 by the Telangana Intellectuals Forum. The award was presented on the occasion of National Sports Day 2026 at a ceremony hosted at the Press Club Auditorium, Basheerbagh, Hyderabad, commemorating the birth anniversary of hockey legend Padma Bhushan Major Dhyan Chand.

The felicitation recognizes Dr. Anandesi’s outstanding contributions to physical education, sports development, and the promotion of athletic activities among youth and university students.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Guest Prof. V. Balakista Reddy (Chairman, TSCHE), Justice B. Chandrakumar (Former High Court Judge), Prof. Utikala Purushotham (Vice-Chairman, TSCHE), and Special Guest Prof. K. Deepla (Director of Sports, Osmania University), alongside office-bearers of the Telangana Intellectuals Forum. Addressing the audience, dignitaries emphasized the vital role of sports and physical fitness in building mental resilience, discipline, and holistic growth, calling for stronger sports infrastructure across Telangana.
