Centre for Dalit and Adivasi Studies and Translation (CDAST), School of Humanities at University of Hyderabad (UoH) organized a function to release the book Vinna Kathalu (an analysis on Banjara Oral Stories), written by Dr. J. Rajaram on 17th June, 2014.
While releasing the book, the Chief Guest of the ceremony, Sri J. Chalameshwar, Hon’ble Justice, Supreme Court, said that different tribal cultures and heritages ought not to be forgotten and they should be preserved despite advancing into the modern era.
Prof. Ajmera Seetaram Naik, Hon’ble M.P. was Guest of Honour on this occasion. He said that he was committed for the uplift of the tribal community.
Prof. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy, Vice-chancellor, UoH, chaired the book release function, lauded the efforts of Dr. Rajaram for bringing the Banjara oral stories in a printed format.
A Banjara vocal performance given on the occasion by Guguloth Thanja Bhat and Guguloth Naama Bhat, who hailed from Fathepur, Warangal, impressed the audience.
