The initiative ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ was announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 31st October, 2015 on the occasion of the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Through this innovative measure, the knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different states & UTs will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between the states, thereby strengthening the unity and integrity of India.
In aligning with the objectives of Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat (EBSB), an initiative of Govt. of India, Raj Bhavan, Telangana celebrated Nagaland State Foundation Day. On the invitation, University of Hyderabad Faculty members and students belonging to Nagaland have participated in the commemoration of Nagaland Formation Day on December 1st 2024. His Excellency, Honourable Governor of Telangana Shri. Jishnu Dev Varma and the lady governor, Smt. Sudha Devi Ji graced the occasion at the Raj Bhavan.
Shri. Jishnu Dev Varma expressed his joy spending time in Nagaland with his friends and various picturesque locations of Nagaland. He insisted that there should be frequent conversations about North Eastern states in order to bring more visibility of the rich culture and traditions of various states. EBSB is the right platform to bring people together and his experience of being from one of the North East states brings a mixed feeling when he visited various places in India. Honourable Governor also remembered how Naga regiment played an important role in Kargil war. While insisting on more activities, the Honorable Governor said that more celebrations should be planned to showcase the rich culture and diverse traditions of Northeast states.
Honourable Governor assured that his office is always ready to host any such events that will celebrate and strengthen the diversity of this country. On this occasion, several faculty members from University of Hyderabad, EFLU and several working professionals from Nagaland who are residing in Hyderabad have attended the event. Dr. Venusa Tinyi from Department of Philosophy, Dr. Aliba Ao, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Dr. Limakumba Walling, School of Economics, Dr. Rhelo Kenye, Centre for Comparative Literature have planned the event successfully with various cultural programs.
