Prof. T. Rajendra Kumar delivered a distinguished lecture entitled “Decoding Cellular Interpretation of the Pattern of Signal Inputs- A Transgenic Approach” on 24th Nov 2015. Prof. T. Rajendra Kumar is at present a professor (tenured) and director of Molecular and Integrative Physiology, University of Kansas Medical Center, KS, USA. He is an alumnus of the fourth batch of the University of Hyderabad. Prof. Appa Rao Podile, VC of UoH presided over this distinguished lecture which is the first in the series after he took over as Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Rajendra gave highly informative lecture which conveyed lot of subject areas and techniques ranging from biology to biochemistry to modern molecular biology leading to system biological approach to explain the evolution of duality of gonadotropins. His work involved alteration of pulsatile pattern of LH to reroute to FSH and vice-versa. His research provided very valuable scientific knowledge to reveal how alteration of continuous secretory pattern of FSH to pulsatile pattern provided a better advantage for producing large quantity of eggs without altering female physiology. However, the LH as continuous is not providing any advantage. His work provided translational approach to implicate his findings in clinical and agricultural sectors. His excellent lecture was appreciated by all the UoH faculty members and students as well.
