UoH is partnering in an EU supported HARMONY project “Internationalization and virtual exchange : Borderless between EU and Asian Countries.: Prof. Rafael de Miguel Gonzalez, a well known Geography Professor and an expert in international relations, from the University of Zaragoza, Spain is the Chief Coordinator from EU. The project has additional partners from NMIMS, Mumbai, VIT, Vellore, Daffodil International University, University of Liberal Arts in Bangladesh, Varna University of Management, Bulgaria, Mykolas Romeris University, Lithuania, European Policy Development Institute, Slovenia. UoH has already signed an MoU with UNIZARAGOZA. The Friends Tea House was inaugurated on 11th April 2023 by our Vice Chancellor when Prof. Rafael along with other partner members from Europe, was physically present at the UoH. He had a very useful session of interactions with the Vice Chancellor, other administrators and also with the OIA officials and students including foreign and Indian, along with the UoH team members. Prof. Rafael was responsible for developing the project and UoH has already agreed to partner in the same through the OIA in 2019. The project was supported by the EU for funding and started in 2021 and will end in 2024. These activities can be further strengthened under the NEP 2020 and the internationalization aspects under the IoE program.

UoH is happy to announce that Professor Rafael de Miguel Gonzalez, has been awarded by the American Association of Geographers, the Gilbert Grosvenor Honors for Geographic Education which is the highest scientific distinction in the world in Geography. He is the First non-English-speaking researcher to receive this award. Currently the president of EURGEO, De Miguel is one of the prominent scholars of geography education in the world today. He has been the principal investigator of 32 research projects on geography education, and most of them funded by the European Commission or by the Spanish National Science Foundation. The Harmony team UoH, OIA and UoH congratulate Prof. Rafael de Miguel Gonzalez for this highest academic distinction in his subject. UoH treats Prof. Gonzalez as a long standing friend of UoH and wishes him all the best for winning this prestigious award.”
