A Five-Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Artificial Intelligence was inaugurated at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) under the aegis of the Executive Education Cell, School of Management Studies, in association with Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE), Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, and the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education (CCE), Government of Andhra Pradesh.
The FDP aims to train faculty members from the undergraduate degree and professional colleges in Andhra Pradesh in subject-specific applications of Artificial Intelligence across different academic cohorts. The first two cohorts comprise 80 faculty members — 40 from Commerce and Management disciplines and 40 from Life Sciences. The training programme is being conducted from March 2 to March 6, 2026.

During the five-day intensive programme, participants will receive hands-on training from professors of the University of Hyderabad and other domain experts. The sessions are designed to equip faculty members with practical knowledge and tools to integrate Artificial Intelligence applications into their teaching and research.
The programme commenced with an inaugural session held at the East Campus Auditorium. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad. Other distinguished guests included Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar, Prof. Ghanashyam Krishna, Director, IoE Programme, and Prof. GVRK Acharyulu, Dean- School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad. Prof. K. Madhu Murthy, Chairman-APSCHE & Chief Patron, Prof. S. Vijay Bhaskar Rao, Vice Chairman-APSCHE, Prof. Rata Sheela Mani, Vice Chairperson-APSCHE, and Prof. Tirupati Rao, Secretary-APSCHE, joined the inauguration online.

In his inaugural address, Prof. B J Rao, the Vice-Chancellor, emphasized the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in higher education and highlighted the need for faculty members to adapt to emerging technological advancements. Addressing the gathering, Prof. K. Madhu Murthy outlined the commitment of Govt. of Andhra Pradesh to train the faculty in AI that facilitates a better classroom delivery.
The FDP is coordinated by Prof. Lokanandha Reddy Irala, Professor, School of Management Studies. Prof. DV Srinivas Kumar, Professor, School of Management Studies, is the Associate Coordinator.
