The Internal Complaints Committee of University of Hyderabad organized a talk on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of the PoSH Act, 2013, also known as the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, to highlight the importance of this landmark legislation, on the 9th of December at 3.00pm, in the VC’s Conference Hall.

The talk was delivered by Dr. Madhavi Ravulpati, a distinguished academic who serves as a Professor and Head of the Centre for Law and Public Administration (CLP) and the Centre for International Relations & Security (CIS) at the Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute, Telangana.

Dr. Ravulpati focused on the significance of the PoSH Act and ensuring a safe and respectful workplace for all employees, with a particular focus on protecting women from sexual harassment. Dr. Ravulpati’s insights explored how the Act has influenced workplace policies and culture, as well as the challenges that still exist in its full implementation.

Prof. B.J. Rao, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, was present briefly at the event and expressed his happiness about the talk being organized by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the university. Prof. J. Anuradha, the Presiding Officer of the Internal Complaints Committee offered her comments and reflected on the importance of the talk and the valuable insights shared by Dr. Madhavi Ravulpati regarding the PoSH Act.

Dr. Devesh Nigam, the Registrar of the University in his concluding remarks, highlighted the significance of such discussions in promoting a safe and supportive environment at the university and honoured the speaker.

The talk was well-attended by a diverse group, including faculty, officers and staff of the University of Hyderabad, all of whom had the opportunity to engage with and learn from the expert perspectives shared during the session. Dr. Shree Gyanmote and Mrs. Aravinda, members of ICC took the lead to organize the event.
