The Department of Education and Education Technology, School of Social Sciences University of Hyderabad (UoH), in collaboration with MMTTC, University of Hyderabad, Inter-University Centre for Teacher Education, BHU, Varanasi, UP, and LEARN2LEAD, Hyderabad, successfully concluded the two-day national conference on “Recent Trends and Insights in Educational Technology Post-NEP 2020” with a grand valedictory session at the Auditorium, School of Life Sciences, UoH, which was attended by distinguished guests, delegates, and participants from across the country.
Prof. Madhusudan J.V, Head, Department of Education and Education Technology, UoH, welcomed the gathering and delivered the welcome address. He highlighted the significance of the conference in exploring the recent trends and insights in educational technology post-NEP 2020. Prof. Madhusudan J.V and Dr. Ravula Krishnaiah, Conference Coordinator, honored the delegates and dignitaries with shawls and mementos.
Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Director, MMTTC, University of Hyderabad, delivered an insightful address on the recent trends and insights in educational technology post-NEP 2020. He emphasized the need for educators to adapt to the changing landscape of educational technology and to harness its potential to enhance teaching-learning outcomes.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, MANUU, Hyderabad, delivered a thought-provoking address that highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of the Indian education system. He appreciated the Indian education system’s emphasis on moral and value-based education, citing the guru-shiksha parampara as a shining example. Prof. Hasan also emphasized the importance of individual intelligence and its power, urging the younger generation to adopt artificial intelligence in a responsible and empowering manner.
Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman, Telangana Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad, and Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar, UoH, delivered guest of honour addresses that highlighted the significance of technological applications in education and the need for educators to adapt to the changing landscape of educational technology.
The special invitee, Prof. V. Sudhakar, Honorary Professor, Institute for Educational and Developmental Studies (IEDS), New Delhi, delivered the valedictory address. He emphasized the need for educators to adopt instrumental rationality in teaching-learning practices, highlighting the significance of technology in empowering human thinking. Prof. Sudhakar also cautioned against the behavioristic kind of technology in curriculum and curriculum practices, urging educators to adopt a more nuanced and critical approach to educational technology.
Dr. Ravula Krishnaiah, Conference Co-Ordinator, Department of Education and Education Technology, UoH, thanked the chief guests, delegates, dignitaries, professors, research scholars, and participants for their presence and contributions to the conference.
The valedictory session concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, marking the grand finale of the two-day national conference.
The conference was a resounding success, providing a platform for educators, researchers, and policymakers to share their insights and expertise on recent trends and insights in educational technology post-NEP 2020.
The conference proceedings will be published in a special issue of a reputed journal, ensuring that the knowledge and insights generated during the conference will be disseminated widely and benefit the education community at large.
