Joshua T. Khaute, a PhD scholar from Department of Political Science, School of Social Science, University of Hyderabad (UoH), successfully presented a paper titled “A Comparative Analysis of China and India’s approach to South-South Development Cooperation in the Western Indian Ocean Region”, held at University of Melbourne, Australia between 8th December 2024 to 10th December 2024.

The paper compares the South-South cooperation strategies of China and India in the Western Indian Ocean, contrasting China’s infrastructure-driven Belt and Road Initiative with India’s emphasis on soft power and capacity-building. It examines their geopolitical ambitions, economic impacts, and distinct approaches to promoting development and influence in the region.
