Prof.TV Rao (IIM -A), well known author, practitioner, and consultant has delivered the Foundation Day Lecture commemorating the Foundation Day of School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad, today 30th August, 2018, 11.30AM.
The School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad, was inaugurated on 3rd August, 1999, by His Excellency
Dr.C.Rangarajan, the then Governor of State, also the Former Governor of RBI.
Every year the School organizes a Foundation Day Lecture commemorating its Foundation, where Eminent Personalities are invited to deliver the Foundation Day Lecture.
This year, Prof.TV Rao was invited to deliver the Foundation Lecture.
Prof.TV Rao, is an Icon and a Legend himself…known popularly as ” FATHER OF HRD IN INDIA”. He is widely acclaimed as the co-founder of the first Human Resource Development Department in the Indian subcontinent (along with Dr Udai Pareek) and the initiator of the HRD movement in the country, Dr Rao was a professor at IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA) for over 20 years.
He is Founder President of the National HRD Network and Founder Honorary Director of the Academy of HRD.
Dr Rao has over 60 books to his credit in the areas of HRD, education, organizational behaviour, entrepreneurship, health and population, and management training.
He has wide and varied consulting experience in areas such as organizational structure, HRD, appraisals, OD, team building, survey feedback, entrepreneurship, institution building, HRD audit, structuring HRD, and institutional evaluation. He is a consultant to various organizations in India and abroad, and to international bodies such as USAID, Indonesia; NERDA, Malaysia; the Commonwealth Secretariat, London; FAO, Rome; and UNESCO, Bangkok. Inspite of all his achievements he is very humble, down to earth person.
Prof. TV RAO, In his talk entitled ” Nurturing Excellence through Institution Building in Management Education”, he shared his experience, expertise and Knowledge in creating excellence.
He deliberated on the role of Founders, Leaders, Faculty and Students Institution Building.
During his mesmerizing talk, he emphasized on the point which brings the transformation in the lives of individuals, which is brought in most of the times by the Faculty/ Teachers, and make a big difference in lives of students.
He shared his experiences right from him being a student to the current day, how his career has been shaped by few individual teachers/personalities, who have influenced this life brought in a transformation by identifying his true talent, which he later related to the Faculty members, who can create such a valuable point of difference in student’s life and create an everlasting impact.
He also emphasized on how the vision of founders and leaders of institutions can build the institution, its culture and take it towards the excellence.
He also shared some of stories of the individuals, who have created excellence by being effective in their sphere of management, which he has discussed in his latest book on “Effective People”.
He spoke at length on how one can bring in a point of transformation in Individuals, Institutions and Society by being effective.
Entire audience was spell bound by his impactful talk, which sure has kindled the fire in many to make it big in life, for which the coming times would be thankful to Prof.Rao.
Prof. TV Rao was given Standing Ovation for his talk and contribution to the management world.
Prof. Arun Agarwal, Pro-Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad, Presided over the function, gave his presidential remarks and felicitated the Legendary, Prof.TV Rao, whose books have been read by everyone who has studied Management and they have gone a long way in shaping their personalities, on behalf of the University and School of Management Studies. Prof. B. Rajashekar, Dean of the School, welcomed the Prof. Rao, and expressed his feelings on having a legend like Prof.TV Rao, deliver the Foundation Day Lecture.
Dr. Chetan Srivastava, Faculty Member, School of Management Studies, coordinated the event and he proposed the customary Vote of Thanks on behalf of the University, School of Management Studies, Dean, Faculty and Students.
