The international conference provides a highly competitive global forum for emerging historians to share innovative perspectives on transnational, global, and comparative histories.

Junaid’s presented research paper is titled “The Mappila Recruiting Experiment in Malabar and the Limits of Imperial Military Integration in South Asia.” His work critically delves into British colonial military policies, analyzing the regional complexities, structural limits, and socio-political dynamics surrounding the recruitment and integration of the Mappila community into the imperial military framework in colonial South Asia.

His broader doctoral thesis investigates the intricate, overlapping areas of military-environmental history—an evolving subfield that looks at how military structures, conflicts, and colonial expansion interacted with regional landscapes and ecosystems.
