Professor C. Raghava Reddy, Head, Centre for Knowledge, Culture and Innovation Studies, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad (UoH) is nominated as Member of the Advisory Committee for the Impact Assessment and Public Policy Division at the National Innovation Foundation-India (NIF), an autonomous institution under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

This recognition highlights Prof. Reddy’s expertise in science-technology-society interfaces, and institutional mechanisms for inclusive development—areas central to CKCIS’s mission of exploring how knowledge, culture, and innovation intersect to address societal challenges.

Dr. C. Raghava Reddy is a Professor in the Department of Sociology, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad. With expertise in Science, Technology and Society Studies (STS), Sociology of Disability, and Sociology of Organizations, he has made significant contributions through research on agricultural knowledge production, disability inclusion, and technology-society interfaces.

He has published extensively in reputed journals like Sociological Bulletin, Gender, Technology and Development, and Indian Anthropologist. Key works include analyses of disability discourse, women’s labour in plant tissue culture, and social constructivist perspectives on crop sciences.

Prof. Reddy has led consultancy and major funded projects, including UGC-Major Research Projects on contesting crop sciences and enabling the differently abled in rural Andhra Pradesh. He currently coordinates the DST-Centre for Policy Research at UoH and the Centre for Knowledge, Culture and Innovation Studies.

The National Innovation Foundation–India (NIF) is an autonomous institution of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, dedicated to nurturing grassroots innovations and outstanding traditional knowledge. NIF undertakes activities related to the scouting and documentation of innovations, value addition and their linkage to value chains through entrepreneurship development and dissemination. Systematic impact assessment and informed public policy engagement are critical to demonstrate outcomes, generate evidence, support decision-making, and inform policy formulation at national and sub-national levels.

The NIF has constituted the Advisory Committee on Impact Assessment and Public Policy to provide strategic guidance and expert advice to strengthen NIF’s impact assessment frameworks, methodologies, and policy engagement efforts, and to enhance the use of evidence for programme improvement and policy advocacy.
