Prof. Emanuela Mangiarotti, a faculty member from the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Pavia, Italy, visited the Department of Political Science as Guest Scholar from January 11 -17, 2026. The visit was part of the collaboration initiated by the University of Hyderabad (UoH) with the University of Pavia (UNIPV) through an MoU. Prof. Mangiarotti, during her visit, interacted with the faculty members of the department, participated in a doctoral colloquium (coordinated by the Communitas, the Research Scholars Forum of the department) and delivered a talk on Methodological Considerations in Feminist Peace Research. Prof Mangiarotti shared her inputs with Research Scholars on Feminist Methodologies, Conflict Studies and Historiography.

Later, Prof. Mangiarotti, in a Special Talk, highlighted various feminist methodologies and argued for an intersectional approach to understanding social tensions in the Global South. Prof. Mangiarotti also had fruitful discussions with university authorities on various prospective collaborations, including the launch of a Dual/Double Degree programme involving the Department of Political Science, UoH, and the Department of Political and Social Sciences, UNIPV. Prof. B J Rao, the Vice-Chancellor, has emphasised and expressed hope that the collaborations initiated with UNIPV will be durable and impactful in the long run.

Prof. Mangiarotti also held productive discussions with Dr. Devesh Nigam, the Registrar and the Controller of Examinations (in-charge); Prof. Suneetha Rani, the Dean of the School of Social Sciences; and Prof. A. M. Syed Fazlullah, the Head, the Department of Urdu. Prof. Ratnam, the Head, Department of Political Science, remarked that collaborations and planned student mobilities will benefit the department’s student community and support the department’s efforts to internationalise its current academic programmes.

Prof. Mangiarotti thanked the department and appreciated its efforts to initiate the collaboration, which will be mutually beneficial for the academic communities of both the Universities.
