Earth Day celebrated at UoH
The University of Hyderabad (UoH) in association with Free Service (https://www.facebook.com/freeservicecommunity) celebrated the Earth Day on April 22, 2014 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. School children were part of the celebrations which saw painting competition for the age groups 9-13 and 14-17 years and also a photo contest. The theme for the contest included Waste Management, Climate Change, and Importance of Water.
In the painting competition under the age group of 9-13 years, L. Kasi Vishwanath of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has won the First Prize. P. Varun and S. Anusri of Kendriya Vidyalaya, UoH Campus won the second and third prizes respectively. T. Nikitha of Kendriya Vidyalaya, UoH Campus won the First prize under the age group of 14-17 years category. P. Varun and K. Ashwan of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya won the second and third prizes respectively.
A photo contest was also organized where in Ms. Aruna V. Kulkarni has got the First prize while Mr. Deepanker Yadav and Mr. Prashanth Boini received the second and third prize respectively. Documentaries on Grasslands, Mountains, Oceans, Deserts and Jungles produced by The Human Planet Series, BBC and a Documentary on Birds titled “Winged Migration” were screened at the DST Auditorium for the benefit of the students, faculty and staff of the University.
