Swarna Parameswaran, an alumna of the School of Economics, has recently joined the Goa Institute of Management as an Assistant Professor of Economics. Swarna completed her MA in Economics in 2016, and later pursued her PhD in Management with a specialization in Economics from IIM Ahmedabad.

As an empirical development economist, Swarna’s research interests span household consumption behavior, poverty, local governance, education, and health. Her work explores both micro and macro dimensions of development economics, with a focus on policy implications. On the micro level, she has investigated the welfare effects of workfare programs and village-level local governance measures on rural households. At the macro level, her research analyzes the long-term relationship between health, education, and economic growth at the state level.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Swarna and wish her continued success in her academic journey.
