The University of Hyderabad (UoH) is proud to announce that 34 of its retired and serving faculty members/associates have been recognized among the global top 2% of highly cited scientists, according to the latest Stanford/Elsevier update of standardized citation indicators (August 2025). This year’s edition of the dataset includes over 2,10,000 researchers, categorized into 22 major fields and 174 subfields, making the global top-2% compilation one of the most rigorous benchmark indices of scholarly impact.

In the career-long impact list, twenty-four UoH faculty members are recognized for their sustained contributions over decades of research. In the single-year 2024 impact list, eight more faculty members from UoH are featured, underlining the University’s mix of established scholars and younger researchers making a global mark through recent publications. Notably, many appear in both lists, demonstrating both sustained and ongoing scholarly excellence.

The UoH scholars featured span a broad spectrum of disciplines, including Chemistry, Life Sciences, Physics, Computational Sciences, Arts, and Humanities. Chemistry and Life Sciences account for the most significant representation, followed by Physics and Materials Science, Computer and Information Sciences, Engineering Sciences, and Arts and Humanities. Several of these faculty members hold prestigious national and international awards, including Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prizes, fellowships of learned academies, Chairs, and the President of India’s Visitor’s Awards for excellence in research.

Reflecting on this achievement, Prof. B. J. Rao, Vice Chancellor, said, “With the latest Stanford study results, where we’ve excelled once again, we’re reinforcing our position in global research rankings. It’s immensely gratifying to see 34 of our distinguished faculty members, both current and retired, recognized among the global top 2% across a broad spectrum of disciplines.
