The University of Hyderabad (UoH), a premier Institution of Eminence, and MNJ Institute of Oncology & Regional Cancer Centre, Hyderabad, a leading cancer care institution, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on cutting-edge research and development in Precision Oncology.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar, UoH and Dr. G. Joseph Benjamin, MD, Director, MNJ Institute of Oncology & Regional Cancer Centre, Hyderabad on February 16, 2026, in the presence of Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice-Chancellor, UoH; Prof Sabat SL, R&D Director; Prof Bramanandam Manavathi, ANRF-PAIR, Project Director and Prof. M Ghanashyam Krishna, Director-Institution of Eminence; Prof. Anand Kondapi, Dean, School of Life Sciences; Dr Raghunatha Rao, MNJ.

This partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both institutions to develop innovative solutions for cancer diagnosis and treatment. UoH will contribute its expertise in advanced research and technology, while MNJ Institute of Oncology will provide clinical insights, patient data, and access to its research facilities. The collaboration will focus on personalized medicine, developing new technologies, and improving treatment outcomes for cancer patients.

The MoU enables joint research projects, knowledge sharing, and capacity building initiatives between the two institutions. It also paves the way for the development of intellectual property and potential commercialization of research outcomes. Prof. B.J. Rao expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “This collaboration marks a significant step towards translating research into tangible outcomes that can impact cancer care in India and beyond.”

MNJ Institute of Oncology’s Director, Dr. GJ Benjamin, highlighted the potential benefits of the collaboration, saying, “We look forward to working together to develop innovative solutions for cancer treatment and improve patient outcomes.”

The MoU is valid for five years and can be extended or terminated by mutual consent. The partnership is expected to yield significant outcomes in the field of cancer research and treatment, contributing to the advancement of healthcare in India.
