The ANRF-PAIR initiative aims to create robust, collaborative ecosystems across Indian academia and research institutions by fostering partnerships between leading institutions (referred to as “Hub”) and other associated institutions (“Spokes”). Its key objective is to facilitate high-impact, interdisciplinary research aligned with national priorities and global scientific advancements.
This ambitious initiative brings together UoH along with six spoke institutions forming an impressive network of 173 Co-Principal Investigators from diverse academic and research backgrounds. The SPOKE institutions are Osmania University, Central University of Karnataka, Sri Venkateswara University, Yogi Vemana University, Mahatma Gandhi University and Kannur University. As the central hub, the University of Hyderabad will coordinate with these partner Universities to accelerate innovation, foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, and deliver real-world healthcare solutions for Metabolic diseases, Infectious diseases, and Cancers (MICs) — specifically targeted at Diabetes, Fatty Liver Disease, Dengue, Malaria, Breast Cancer, and Blood Cancer. The success of the award was based on the SYNERGY the whole CLUSTER manifested in its proposal where the SPOKE institutes brought in their unique strengths.
“This is a proud moment for the University and the entire CLUSTER and is a testament to the strength of our research ecosystem,” said Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice-Chancellor, UoH. He also adds “this project perfectly aligns with our mission of leveraging science and innovation to address national priorities with global relevance, all with a MISSION-MODE objective of working together COLLABORATIVELY.”
Prof Bramanandam Manavathi, Project Director, Prof Siba Kumar Udgata, Co-Project Director and Prof Samrat L Sabat, Director-R&D Cell, of University of Hyderabad will coordinate with the spoke institutes for the successful implementation of the project.
This recognition further cements UoH’s position as a national leader in interdisciplinary research and innovation, committed to translating scientific excellence into tangible benefits for the society, while at the same time, hand-holding the SPOKE partners.
