The University of Hyderabad under the auspices of the School of Medical Sciences has entered into MoU with two prestigious institutions on 4 April, 2022. Both the MoU’s from UoH were signed by the Registrar, Dr. Devesh Nigam in the presence of Prof. B J Rao, Vice Chancellor of the university. The Director, Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning (CDVL), Prof. S. Jeelani was present on the occasion to facilitate the same.

       

The first was a renewal MoU with Infection Control Academy of India, for the Diploma in Infection Prevention & Control program through the Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning, UoH. IFCAI was represented by its Director and Honorary Professor, UoH Prof. Ranga Reddy Burri, Joint Secretary-IFCAI Mr. Pranav Kumar and DIPC Course Moderator Ms. Spoorthy. The School of Medical Sciences was represented by the Dean, Prof. Geeta, Course Coordinators – Prof. Shamanna and Dr. M. Varalakshmi.

     

The second; a new MoU; was executed between the School of Medical Sciences, UoH and GPR-ICARE, L.V. Prasad Eye Institute for a virtual 1-year Diploma in Community Eye Health Program starting in 2022 through CDVL. GPR – ICARE is a WHO Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Blindness in India and a global leader in clinical ophthalmology services, training and research as well as a model for Global Blindness Control Programs in Community Eye Health. GPR-ICARE was represented by its Director, Dr. Rohit Khanna, Associate Director, Education Programs & Coordinator Dr. M. Srinivas and Head Community Eye Health programs Mr. Jachin David Williams. The School of Medical Sciences was represented by the Dean, Prof. Geeta, Course Coordinators – Prof. Shamanna and Dr. Konda Nagaraju.

While expressing his profound happiness and support from the University to the academic programs and educational activities, the Vice Chancellor urged the parties to look at further expanding the scale and scope of activities much beyond what the MoU’s have committed to. He also talked of leveraging the New Education Policy in developing more of the skill upgradation and societal impact related programs.
