U.S. News & World Report 2017 edition of the Best Global Universities features UoH
UoH is ranked 14th among the Best Global Universities in India and 6th among funded Universities
The overall Best Global Universities rankings encompass the top 1,262 institutions spread across 65 countries
The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been featured among the Top Global Universities of India by the U.S. News & World Report in their 2017 edition of the Best Global Universities.
In its ranking concerning best institutions in India, US-News ranks Panjab University followed by Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) as the best two institutions in India. Among full-fledged universities, University of Hyderabad is ranked at 6th slot. It is also the only institution from South India as well as from Hyderabad, Telangana to be recognised among the Best. UoH is ranked 14 among the Best Global Universities in India. However in the first 14 ranks there are 8 research institutions and hence among the funded Universities the rank of UoH is 6th. Overall University of Delhi features at 9th position while JNU features at 19th. The overall Best Global Universities rankings encompass the top 1,262 institutions spread across 65 countries.

Twelve indicators were used to calculate this institution’s overall Best Global Universities rank. They include Global research reputation, Regional research reputation, Publications, Books, Conferences, Normalized citation impact, Total citations, Number of publications that are among the 10 % most cited, Percentage of total publications that are among the 10 % most cited, International collaboration, Number of Ph.Ds awarded and Number of Ph.Ds awarded per academic staff member.
U.S. News & World Report is a multi-platform publisher of news and information, which includes www.usnews.com and www.rankingsandreviews.com. U.S. News publishes annual print and e-book versions of its authoritative rankings of Best Colleges, Best Graduate Schools and Best Hospitals. The report says, “Students who wish to study in India can explore these universities which have been numerically ranked based on their positions in the overall Best Global Universities rankings. The rankings take into account schools’ research performance, as well as their ratings by members of the academic community around the world and in Asia.”
