The University of Hyderabad (UoH) and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research—Hyderabad (TIFR-H) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on January 16, 2023, renewing their commitment to continuing their academic collaboration in education and research. Both institutions will take their competence in the natural sciences—physics and chemistry—to the next level, transforming the country’s quest for excellence and human resource development. A Research and Academic Advisory Committee (RAAC) will oversee the collaboration between UoH and TIFR-H. This MoU enables both institutions to jointly organize lectures, workshops, conferences, and seminars at the national and international levels. Faculty from both the institutes will look at establishing inter-institutional centers on mutually agreeable thematic areas to promote interdisciplinary research. This MoU will have long-term implications for strengthening and enhancing academic excellence.
The MoU, which is for a period of five years, was signed by Dr. Devesh Nigam, (Registrar), Prof. Jagan MR Pongubala, Prof. PK Suresh from the UoH, and Mr. D. Hari Prasad (Administrative Officer), Prof. Ullas Kolthur, and Prof. M. Krishnamurthy in the presence of Prof. BJ Rao, Vice Chancellor, UoH; Prof. Vadapalli Chandrasekhar, Director, TIFR. The UoH faculty members, including Prof. Ashwini Nangia, Dean-School of Chemistry; Prof. KC James Raju, Dean-School of Physics; and Prof. N Siva Kumar, Dean-School of Life Sciences, also participated in the signing function and the discussions.
