University of Hyderabad (UoH) organised the Freshers’ Meet on August 18th at the Savitribai Phule (formerly DST) auditorium for welcoming its recently admitted students for the academic year 2017-18.
Vice Chancellor Prof Appa Rao also the chief guest for the event addressed the first-year students saying that University of Hyderabad has always been the leading University of this Country and asked the new comers to make the most of their stay. He advised the students to avail the facilities of the University and complete the course with laurels and contribute to the best of this society.
Pro Vice Chancellor in his welcoming speech said while pointing out to the dignitaries that people sitting at the dais are here for you 24*7 and promised that all of them are here for the freshers. He advised the students to use their freedom Judiciously.
Talking about the health facilities in the University Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anupama said during her address that– “The health centre does not only work for the illness we are also here to make your stay healthy. She also informed students about the Health Insurance and other benefits available for them at the Health Centre.
Chief Warden Prof. Vasuki Belavadi also while welcoming the first-year students advised and encouraged students to become the part of the hostel committee and treat students specially Physically challenged students very sensitively.
GSCASH Internal Complaint Committee’s Presiding Officer Prof V. Sita also assured the students that University believes in excellence and one of the pillars of excellence is to provide safe and secure environment for the students. She said, “We make sure that harassment of any nature gets addressed as well as resolved in the University and we have a faculty and students inclusive body to take care of it”.
Many other dignitaries including Controller of Examination Devesh Nigam, Director – Physical Education Dr. Rajashekhar , Member Doctoral Board Prof. Somak Das, Dean Students’ Welfare, Prof. Debashish Acharya also spoke at the event. Apart from this, other faculty members also graced the event with their presence.
The Program ended with tea and interaction between the students and dignitaries.
