Venu Radhanolla, attended 32nd European Systemic Functional Linguistics at Spain

Venu Radhanolla, research scholar from the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies (CALTS), School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has attended the 32nd European Systemic Functional Linguistics conference held at University de Vigo, Spain.

Venu presented the paper titled: “Applying Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistics to the translation of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer”. The conference was held from 15-17 June, 2023. His research area is Systemic Functional Linguistics and Translation of Legal texts from Telugu to English Venu is working under the supervision of Prof. Bhimrao Panda Bhosale.

Venu also met C.M.I.M. Matthiessen, Professor in the Department of English at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, who has authored or co-authored more than 100 books and discussed with him the methodology of translation of Indian literary and legal texts through Systemic Functional Linguistics and how it would create new avenues in SFL and Translation.
