Marking a global celebration of the impact of light in science, technology, art, and education, the International Day of Light 2025 was celebrated on May 16-17 at TIFR Hyderabad. On Day 2 of the International Day of Light 2025, the Zenith Astronomy Club, University of Hyderabad, had the privilege of participating in a dynamic chapter meet organized by TIFR Network of Students (NeSt), in collaboration with its Optica and SPIE student chapters — part of the international society for optics and photonics.

Our club proudly represented the University of Hyderabad at this event, which focused on industry interaction and inter-chapter collaboration.

The event commenced with an insightful talk by Dr. Harish Krishnamoorthy, who delivered a lecture on “Nanophotonics for Integrated Systems.” His presentation set an engaging tone for the day, introducing participants to the forefront of photonics research.

The event featured a series of enriching activities, including:
- Academic Talks: Student chapter members, including from our Zenith Astronomy Club, showcased their ongoing research, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and intellectual engagement.
- Industrial Talk: Dr. Sachin Barthwal delivered an inspiring talk titled “Quantum Leap from Classroom to Modern Life: An Industry Perspective,” bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry application.
- Chapter Activity Presentations: Our Zenith Astronomy Club highlighted its ongoing initiatives, achievements, and challenges, contributing to a roundtable discussion focused on exploring future collaborative opportunities.
- Inter-Chapter Meeting: A vibrant session saw active participation from various chapters, including: SPIE Student Chapter – IIT Hyderabad, SPIE Student Chapter – VJIT, and Zenith Astronomy Club – University of Hyderabad.

The chapter meet concluded with guided lab visits at TIFR Hyderabad, where our members experienced firsthand exposure to cutting-edge optics research.

Our participation in this event provided a valuable platform for networking, collaborative brainstorming, and knowledge exchange, further strengthening Zenith Astronomy Club’s commitment to academic excellence and active engagement in the field of optics and photonics.
