The University of Hyderabad (UoH) community celebrates a proud moment as Dr. Cyril Philip, an esteemed alumnus of the School of Economics, has been appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Christ University (Deemed to be University), Bangalore Central Campus. Dr. Philip officially assumed his new academic responsibilities earlier this month.

Dr. Cyril Philip successfully earned his PhD in Economics from the School of Economics, UoH, in 2024. His doctoral thesis was jointly supervised under the expert guidance of Prof. S. Sandhya (Retired) and Prof. Phanindra Goyari.

Dr. Philip’s primary research specializes in developmental economics, specifically examining the socioeconomic impacts of health insurance and universal child immunization. He has actively contributed to academic scholarship, publishing his findings in several reputed international journals indexed in Scopus and the Web of Science (Emerging Sources Citation Index – ESCI).

Prior to joining Christ University, Dr. Philip accumulated valuable instructional experience in higher education as a visiting faculty member at two premier institutions:

  • Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad
  • Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Hyderabad
