Second-year students from the Department of Political Science at the University of Hyderabad visited the American Corner at St. Francis College for Women in Begumpet on the 29th of July. The visit was part of ‘The White House Founders Museum’ exhibition, launched by the US Consulate General Hyderabad in collaboration with St. Francis College. The exhibition was curated to offer college and university students an overview of key milestones in American politics and constitutional development.
During the visit, students were given a guided tour of the exhibition space. The exhibition featured significant events in American history. The exhibits were designed to link historical events with concepts studied in courses on governance, representation, and constitutional frameworks. Joshua Patalsky, from the US Consulate General Hyderabad, addressed the gathering. He spoke on the legacy of John Adams, highlighting his role as a member of the Continental Congress, a Founding Father, and the second President of the United States.
The talk, supported by a presentation, focused on how early American institutions were shaped and how founding principles continued to influence democratic governance. An interactive Q&A session followed this. Students asked questions on constitutional development and the relevance of the founding ideas to contemporary public policy. Mr. Patalsky responded and encouraged further engagement with political history. After which, the coordinator of the American Corner at St. Francis College for Women extended a vote of thanks, marking the end of the event. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Anju Helen Bara and Dr. S. Shaji, Associate Professors in the Department of Political Science of UoH, to provide students with experiential learning beyond the classroom.
