The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has successfully wrapped up its admission process for Undergraduate (U.G.) and Integrated Postgraduate (P.G.) programmes for the 2026–27 academic year.
Counselling sessions were held on August 13 and 14, 2026, at the College of Integrated Studies. The university maintained strict merit-based criteria, with all admissions determined by candidates’ performance in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) written examination.

The Year in Numbers

The admission cycle saw overwhelming nationwide interest, underscoring the university’s reputation as a premier institution across the Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities.
  • 17,546 applications were received in response to the University’s notification.
  • 1:15 was the merit ratio used to call candidates for the two-day counselling process.
  • 456 total seats were offered across 17 distinct subjects.
  • 390 seats have been successfully filled, accounting for 85.53% of the total intake.

A Near-Even Cohort

A standout feature of the incoming 2026–27 batch is its demographic balance. The university reported a near-even gender distribution across all three academic domains, reflecting close to absolute parity:
  • Male students: 206 (52.82%)
  • Female students: 184 (47.17%)

Waitlist Operations

For prospective candidates still hoping to secure a spot, the university has outlined its policy for the remaining vacancies. Unfilled seats and any subsequent withdrawals will be managed directly from the official waitlist. This process will remain active for one month from the official closing date of admissions (August 14, 2026).

Acknowledgments and Welcome

The smooth execution of the two-day counselling and admission process was the result of a massive coordinated effort. The University recorded its deep appreciation for the Academic Section, the Examinations Section, and the dedicated faculty, officers, and staff whose sustained hard work made the swift intake possible.
In a statement addressing the incoming cohort, the university extended a warm greeting to its newest academic community members, closing with its guiding philosophy:
“To our newest students — welcome to the University of Hyderabad. सा विद्या या विमुक्तये | Knowledge is that which liberates.”
