On the historic occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, the celebrations at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) commenced with the powerful and soulful rendition of the full National Song, Vande Mataram. Following this patriotic homage, Prof. J. Anuradha, Vice-Chancellor (In-charge), hoisted the National Flag amidst a spirit of celebration, reflection, and institutional pride.

Addressing faculty, staff, students, and guests, Prof. J. Anuradha emphasized that true freedom at UoH translates into the liberty to think critically, innovate without boundaries, and leverage world-class education as a powerful instrument for nation-building and achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat. 

 

Key Highlights & Strategic Achievement

  • Research Pre-Eminence & Strategic Policy Impact: UoH currently oversees 177 active research projects valued at over ₹182 crore. Over the past year, faculty submitted 297 new research proposals, securing 69 fresh projects worth over ₹90 crore. The university’s IP portfolio stands strong with 52 granted patents and 30 newly filed or published patents, alongside a robust publication record of nearly 1,200 peer-reviewed papers in 2025 and approximately 800 already published in 2026. Highlighting societal impact, UoH has been designated as the Lead Knowledge Institution for the Government of Telangana and established INFORM, a Section 8 company dedicated to UN Sustainable Development Goals. Furthermore, two faculty members—Prof. Naresh Babu Sepuri and Prof. Chandrasekhar Rajanna—were conferred the prestigious J.C. Bose Fellowships.
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship (ASPIRE): The university’s innovation wing, ASPIRE, now spans over 67,000 sq. ft. of incubation space and supports more than 140 deep-tech startups. These incubatees have filed over 100 patents, commercialized 30+ technologies, raised ₹500+ crore in follow-on funding, created 1,000+ high-quality jobs, and mentored 400+ student interns.
  • IoE Infrastructure & Sustainability: As Phase-1 of the Institution of Eminence (IoE) scheme progresses toward completion (March 2027), critical facilities have been operationalized, including the Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IDRC), a 400-seater ladies’ hostel, the MMTTC building, and an HAL-funded auditorium. To ensure long-term operational self-sustainability post-2027, the Executive Council has approved the CREAA Policy (Co-working Spaces for Research, Entrepreneurial, and Academic Activities).
  • NEP 2020 Realization & Digital Expansion: The School of Chemistry successfully launched a Four-Year Undergraduate Programme aligned with NEP 2020 guidelines. Additionally, CDLTR and CDVL merged to form the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). Equipped with a new state-of-the-art recording studio, CDOE serves over 5,000 learners across 40 online courses.
  • Strong Admissions & Placement Resilience: UoH recorded robust enrollment for the 2026–27 academic year, filling 91.89% of Ph.D. seats (170/185), 82.09% of PG seats (1,201/1,463) and 85.53% across 17 subjects for UG and Integrated PG (390/456). On the career front, 378 students secured full-time offers and 278 received internships across 177 top organizations, featuring an average package of ₹9 LPA and a peak international offer of ₹30 LPA in Japan.
  • Global Outreach, Recruitment & Alumni Engagement: UoH welcomed 43 new international scholars (including 30 ICCR fellows) and secured an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Grant as part of a Euroculture consortium. Under Mission Mode Recruitment, 136 new non-teaching staff members joined the university. Looking Ahead: Concluding her address, Prof. J. Later the campus school students’ patriotic song and dance program was a heartfelt tribute to the nation. With vibrant performances, they showcased their musical talent and love for the country.
