Hailing from Bahalda, Odisha, Dr. Dutta built his foundational academic career in his home state, completing his B.Sc. in Chemistry (Honors) at MPC Autonomous College, Baripada, and earning his M.Sc. degree from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. He subsequently pursued his doctoral studies at the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad, from 2016 to 2022 conducting research under the guidance of Prof. Akhila Kumar Sahoo.
Following his Ph.D., Dr. Dutta broadened his research footprint across top global institutions. He completed advanced postdoctoral research with Prof. Armido Studer at the University of Münster, Germany, and subsequently with Prof. Marcos G. Suero at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) in Tarragona, Spain.
At IIT Hyderabad, Dr. Dutta’s independent research group will focus on asymmetric catalysis, skeletal modification, and bioconjugation—cutting-edge domains with major applications in synthetic chemistry and modern drug discovery.
