The Skill Development Centre, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad conducted the second edition of the “Animal Cell Culture & Pre-clinical drug discovery workshop” during 6th to 10th January, 2025.
Dr. Arunasree Kalle, Associate Professor, Department of Animal Biology was the main scientific co-ordinator and Mr. Mabu Subahan, research scholar assisted in the technical aspects. The participants were from all over India.
The trainees received detailed hands on training in the areas of cell culture, drug design and in vitro testing. The participants were trained in setting up a cell culture lab, reviving mammalian cell cultures, maintaining and propagation of the cultures and storing them for long term use. Besides this, drug screening on the cell cultures was conducted by the participants using MTT assay, confocal microscopy and flow cytometry techniques.
Overall, the training was extensive and has laid platform for conducting such training programs on a larger scale in future.
