The Indira Gandhi Memorial Library (IGML), University of Hyderabad, conducted an Internship Programme for 13 members from the Department of Library and Information Science, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University (Dr. BRAOU), Hyderabad, from 2 July 2026 to 31 July 2026.

As part of the Internship Programme, the participants received practical training and hands-on exposure to various sections and services of a modern university library. The training covered Acquisition, Technical Processing, Circulation, Reference and Information Services, Periodicals, Electronic Resources, Digital Library and Institutional Repository services.

The interns also gained exposure to Research Support Services, User Education and Information Literacy, Reprography and Document Delivery, Inter-Library Loan, Competitive Examination Cell, Theses and Dissertation Services, Special Collections and Rare Books, Bindery and Preservation, and Stack Maintenance.

The programme further provided practical exposure to ICT and Library Automation, RFID, OPAC, Library Management Systems, Library Statistics, Quality Assurance, NAAC/NIRF-related activities, and the use of the Seminar Hall and Learning Commons.
The Internship Programme provided the participants with valuable professional experience and a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of a modern university library. It served as an effective bridge between academic learning and practical professional training in Library and Information Science.
