Empowered Committee for Differently Abled Persons (ECDAP), University of Hyderabad inaugurated the ‘Digital Resource Centre for Visually Impaired’ at the School of Humanities, UoH on 12th February, 2018.

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony and sweet distribution, Dr. S. Rajgopal, Chairman of ECDAP, welcoming the dignitaries said, “I welcome all the dignitaries present here and thank them for their constant support. I also thank the Dean of Humanities and University with Potential for Excellence – Phase II (UPE Phase-II) for providing us the resources to start this digital resource centre.”

Prof Appa Rao Podile, Vice-chancellor, UoH, while inaugurating the resource centre appreciated the kind gesture of the Dean of School of Humanities and everyone for their efforts in ideating and planning the centre. He advised the students present during the inauguration ceremony to make full use of the facility.

Dean of Humanities, Prof. Panchanan Mohanty, humbly addressed the gathering saying, “The term humanities itself means to keep the humaneness intact and this gesture is just to validate our effort to make this world an equal place for the differently abled people”

Prof. Prakash Babu, Pro-vice Chancellor, UoH, said that he is proud that UoH also joined the league of Indian Universities that are well equipped with facilities for differently abled students.

The resource centre is equipped with Braille printers and scanners that are capable of printing and scanning documents in Braille and this will help in making computer peripherals more accessible to the visually impaired.

Dr. Sri Annavaram, a member of ECDAP, gave the vote of thanks.
