Dr. Abhijit Debnath an alumnus of the School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been selected for the position of Assistant Professor at Vellore Institute of Technology, Andhra Pradesh, (VIT-AP University).

Dr. Abhijit Debnath pursued his Master of Applied Linguistics from Center for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies in the years 2005-2007 securing the University Medal for the same from UoH. He completed his Ph.D. from Center for Neural and Cognitive Sciences in 2017. His Ph.D. work examines the study of sentence processing in the domain of Agent-Event information integration during language processing.  During his Ph.D. Abhijit presented his research in several competitive conferences such as “GLOW in Asia Workshop for Young Scholars” at Mie University, Japan; “West Coast Conference of Formal Linguistics” at Arizona State University, USA; and has also given invited talks at Department of Linguistics, University of Massachusetts (UMASS), Amherst, USA and Department of Linguistics and Philosophy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA. There he had exchanged theoretical and research discussions as well as meticulous future research plans with several renowned faculty in the subject area, including Prof. Noam Chomsky.
