October 2nd this year saw the entire country taking part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, an initiative by the Government of India. This activity was undertaken on a massive scale at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) too.
The morning session saw the employees of the University taking the Swachhata Shapath (sanitation pledge) and then embarking on cleaning activities in and around their offices. Later in the evening there was a tree plantation programme on the campus.
Prof. E Haribabu, Pro Vice-Chancellor led this drive with the active involvement of students, faculty, NSS Volunteers, teachers of academic staff college and staff. More than 100 trees were planted in the south campus. The horticulture wing of the University organized this drive.
