The NSS Cell – UoH organized a series of engaging competitions for students from classes first to fifth standards at Government Primary School in Lakdaram Village on 19-12-2024, the fifth day of the camp. The event included singing, drawing, and dancing competitions designed to encourage student participation.

The close involvement of NSS volunteers with the young learners played a key role in motivating them to engage in these activities. The volunteers established a friendly rapport with the children, which helped them feel comfortable and enthusiastic about joining the competitions.

After the competitions, the charts and pictures created by the students were submitted to the principal’s office for evaluation. The winners were awarded prizes generously donated by the Sri Rajmatha Foundation, an NGO collaborating with the NSS unit for this event.

The foundation provided pens and notebooks as rewards, ensuring that the students received meaningful and practical prizes.

In the post-lunch session, the NSS volunteers conducted a survey focused on the “Youth not in Formal Education or Regular Employment” in Lakdaram Village. Volunteers were grouped into pairs or small teams, with at least one member speaking Telugu to facilitate communication. Each volunteer was assigned the task of surveying at least 10 households.

The survey, which aimed to gather data on the youth’s educational and employment status, was conducted from 4 PM until approximately 8 PM, with the support of students from the nearby Zilla Parishad High School.

This initiative, combining both educational competitions and community research, contributed to the development of a stronger bond between the volunteers and the local community, while also raising awareness about youth engagement in the village.

A report of the survey will be submitted to the office of the Directorate, Regional office, Hyderabad. Dr. Bhimsingh, the NSS Programme Officer supervised the activities.
