Prof. P.S.V.S Sai Prasad and his PhD student alumnus, Dr. Anil Kumar, from the School of Computer and Information Sciences (SCIS) at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), recently published an article, “Scalable Feature Subset Selection with Fuzzy Rough Sets and Fuzzy Min–Max Neural Network in Hybrid Decision System,” in IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, a highly regarded SCI journal with an impact factor of 10.7. This tier 1 journal has a world wide ranking of 13 in the area of Artificial Intelligence (https://www.scimagojr.com/journalrank.php?category=1702&year=2024). The work is supported by UoH-IoE by MHRD, Government of India.
This article presents a feature subset selection approach that efficiently handles large hybrid datasets by integrating the fuzzy min-max neural network with fuzzy rough sets. The proposed algorithm is faster than the state of the art approaches in feature selection using fuzzy rough sets. Incidentally, this work is an extended work from the earlier publication of authors in IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems published in 2020.
