A book titled ‘Telangana Rajakiya Prasthanam: Samajika Aardhika Vishleshana’ authored by Prof. Ramdas Rupavath, a faculty in the Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences (SSS), University of Hyderabad, published in August 2024 was discussion held at the 37th Hyderabad Book fair, NTR Stadium, Indira Park, Hyderabad, Telangana on 23rd December 2024. The Discussants were Sri .Venugopal (Writer) Prof .Vidyasagar Reddy, Department of Political Science. Mizoram Central University, Dr.V.Raju Naik , English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad and  Sri.Goreti Venkkanna ,Poet and Writer , Member of Telangana Legislative Council ( MLC) and Students and Activists and Scholars were participated .They appreciated content of the book and stated that it is  highly useful and  it is thought provoking  to the academicians, Policy makers.

 

During the discussion, Sri Venugopal, writer, pointed out how this particular work differs from the other works on the Telangana Political process and Prof. Vidya Sagar Reddy discussed regional movements in Telangana – causes and consequences. Dr. Raju Naik said the book is very much relevant to the policy makers and academicians. Professor Ramdas concluded the discussion providing the audience with the details of the twelve chapters and gave a brief glimpse of the culmination of the book.

Sri.Venugopal stated that the issues raised in the book such as popular movements against Nizams, Land lords and other dictators brought major reforms in the Telagana region. He alaso said that the book contains voting rights granted to the people brings changes in the governing bodies. Those who do not serve the people effectively will be denied the political positions with the power of their constitutional right to vote in the elections.

Prof. Vidya Sagar Reddy viewed that the book highlights the origin of many Political Parties in the Telangana region after 1969 telangana agitation. He further stated that the book contains the political Leaders of Telangana Region who played greater role in regional issues as well as national issues. Telangana Leaders namely P.V.Narasimha Rao, Jalagam Vengala Rao, Anjaiah and K.Chandrasekhara Rao led the movements in Telangana.

Dr.Raju Naik said that the book highlights the democratic system in India. Sovereignty rests with the people in the governance of the country. He said that the book contains the movement led by K.Chandrasekhara Rao in various ways led to formation of Telangana state. He also stated that the TRS Party won many seats in Local body elections. All the promises given to the people by  the first Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhara Rao could not be fulfilled because of various reasons.

Sri Goreti Venkanna (writer and Poet) Member pf Legislative Council in Telangana state had stated that the book contains thought provoking ideas and reminds us about the key personalities of Telangana state who contributed in various ways for the progress of the region.

Prof. Ramdas Rupavath explained that the Naxalbari Movement began in West Bengal and spread to Andhra and Telangana Regions. Naxals have distributed land to the poor and landless workers. As a result, landlords migrated to cities. The book highlights that even after the creation of separate Telangana State still tribal people are backward economically as well as socially.  Professor Ramdas concluded the discussion providing the audience with the details of the twelve chapters and gave a brief glimpse of the culmination of the book.

The first chapter in the book explains about historical perspective of Telangana Politics, the second chapter contains the Political Parties in Telangana- social status, third chapter is about Regional Political Parties in Telangana, the fourth chapter contains the Political Movements in Telangana, fifth chapter comprises the movements led by Landless class and Communists in Hyderabad State, sixth chapter focuses on separate state Movements in India.

The seventh chapter in the book explains about social Movements and Regional Imbalances. Eighth chapter contains Unequal development based on region, culture. Ninth chapter emphasises on Different regions and sub-regions in India.

Tenth chapter contains the Regional Movements for Separate states in India. Eleventh chapter contains religion based Political Parties and society and the twelfth chapter contains about Indian federalism, social unity and challenges before India.

Introducing his book,” Telangana Rajakiyarasthanam” Sri Venugopal, writer  pointed out how this particular work differs from the other works on Telangana Political process and Prof. Vidya sagar Reddy discussed about regional movements in Telangana causes and consequences and Dr.Raju Naik said the book is very much relevant to the policy makers and academicians. Due to time constraints, Professor Ramadas concluded the discussion providing the audience with the details of the twelve chapters. Though he did give a brief glimpse as to what the end of the book culminates
