Mr. Eeshan Hasan, an alumnus of IMSc Mathematics, University of Hyderabad (UoH) is a Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) scholar and CSIR JRF award recipient, will be joining the prestigious Vanderbilt University, USA to do his PhD in Cognitive Sciences.
Mr. Eeshan had always been looking for interdisciplinary avenues beyond the regular training in Mathematics. At UoH, He had taken various courses in subjects like Computer Science, Philosophy, Economics and Political Science apart from his core courses in Mathematics. He was a student coordinator of the Junior Science Club (JSC) at CIS in UoH and during his tenure, he was instrumental in organising talks in various fields such as thermodynamics, astronomy and cryptography. It was these interests that took him forward during his summer holidays in the form of internships in Quantum Optics, Cryptography, Astronomy and Data Science. Eeshan subsequently developed an interest in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Cognitive Science is a domain that models the brain as an information processing system, making it a fertile ground for developing mathematical models. It is this that interested him to pursue a PhD in Cognitive Sciences.
Mr. Eeshan was a member and President of Young Orators Club of Secunderabad while he was a student at UoH. Being a very social person with diverse interests, cognitive sciences is a perfect match for him.
