Ms Jaqueline Heethey, Consular and Cultural Attachee-German Consulate, Chennai, Ms. Amita Desai, Director – Goethe Zentrum and Honorary Consul Federal Republic of Germany in Hyderabad, Mr Apoorv Mahendru, Deputy Director and Head, Marketing, DAAD Regional Office New Delhi and Ms Padmavathi Chandramouli, Regional Officer, DAAD IP, Chennai visited University of Hyderabad on 13th May 2022.  They had an hour long meeting with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. BJ Rao, Deans of the Schools, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. KD Sen, INSA Senior Scientist and  DAAD Ambassador, UoH, Director Office For International Affairs, Prof. N. Siva Kumar and Associate Director, Prof. Aparna Rayaprol.

Prof. BJ Rao welcomed the delegation and informed the delegation on the excellence of various schools of UoH both in Sciences and non-science subjects. He also brought to the attention the recent IoE status of the UoH and elaborated the need for more support from the DAAD towards enhancing internationalization in the present NEP 2020 scenario. He also suggested that DAAD take an initiative so that Germany should invest more in India by bringing together industry and academic partners that would benefit the students in the long run. Mr.Apoorv Mahendru from DAAD delegation explained the various opportunities that Indian students have for higher education in Germany. They also informed about the existence of German Research Centre in New Delhi that is promoting academic collaborations.

Prof. N. Siva Kumar gave a brief presentation on the extensive collaborations UoH faculty have with various German Universities in the past, ongoing projects and said UoH is looking forward to receive further support from the DAAD that not only enhances cooperation of research collaboration but also allows more exchange visits of both students and faculties among the different German Universities and UoH to comply with the NEP 2020 and the recent UGC 2022 regulations to promote internationalization.
