The University of Hyderabad (UoH) fraternity gathered in a solemn ceremony on April 14, 2026, to pay rich tributes to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on the occasion of his 136th Jayanti.

The commemorative event, held at the Administration Building, saw leadership and members of the university come together to honor the legacy of the father of the Indian Constitution. Prof. J. Anuradha (Vice-Chancellor i/c), Dr. Devesh Nigam (Registrar), and Shri P. Thukaram (Controller of Examinations i/c) led the faculty, officers and staff in paying floral homage to the visionary leader.

A Legacy of Justice and Reform
Born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Ambedkar’s life remains a testament to the power of resilience and social transformation. A relentless reformer, he dedicated his journey to the upliftment of the marginalized and the pursuit of a truly egalitarian society.

As the primary architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions were foundational to our democracy. He was instrumental in:
Defining Civil Liberties: Securing constitutional guarantees for individual freedoms.
Championing Human Rights: Enshrining the abolition of untouchability and the freedom of religion.
Eradicating Bias: Outlawing all forms of discrimination to ensure every citizen can live with dignity.

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Library (IGML) organized a special book exhibition and display showcasing a rich collection of books and literature on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and his ideology, with the aim of promoting awareness of his profound contributions to social justice, equality, and nation-building.

The University Librarian (I/c), along with all the Assistant Librarians, came together to organize the event, reflecting their collective commitment to disseminating his ideals. The initiative received an enthusiastic response from students and research scholars, who actively engaged with the exhibited materials and expressed their appreciation. On the occasion, they also paid floral tributes to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, making the event both meaningful and inspiring.
