Alice Abraham, a doctoral scholar from the Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Hyderabad, participated in the Disability Studies Conference held from April 14–16 2026 at the University of Leeds, U.K. The theme of the conference was “Navigating the Changing Landscape of Disability/Studies”. She presented her paper titled, “Rethinking Normality: Disabled Masculinity and Caste in Malayalam Cinema” which explored key intersections within disability studies, situating her work within broader cultural and theoretical frameworks.

The conference brought together scholars engaged in critical disability studies from across the world, creating a vibrant space for academic exchange. The conference provided valuable networking opportunities with academics and practitioners. She expresses her sincere gratitude to her supervisor, Prof. K. Suneetha Rani, and her doctoral committee members, Prof. Deepa Sreenivas and Prof. Sowmya Dechamma, for their guidance and support.
