We are thrilled to announce that Shyam Ratan, a researcher at the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies (CALTS), University of Hyderabad, has been selected for a prestigious 3-month research internship at Microsoft Research (MSR) India, Bengaluru!

Working under the guidance of Prof. S. Arulmozi, Shyam will spend his summer (June – August) contributing to cutting-edge advancements in global AI.
🌐 Breaking Barriers in AI: The M3 Initiative
During his time at MSR India, Shyam is actively contributing to M3 (Multi-Cultural, Multi-lingual, and Multi-Modal Benchmarking), a landmark initiative under MLCommons.
Aligned with the vision of “Better AI for Everyone,” this project aims to:
- Foster Inclusivity: Advance AI systems so they understand and respect diverse languages, cultures, and modalities.
- Set Global Standards: Build trusted, safe, and efficient AI technologies through rigorous, real-world benchmarking.
- Human-in-the-Loop Innovation: Combine collaborative engineering across academia and industry with human insights to ensure AI serves global communities equitably.
