Campus Cultural Center of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) recently conducted classical music concerts. The event was conducted as a part of independence day celebrations 2024. Well-known Sitarist Sri Ramprapanna Bhattacharya of Hyderabad and Hindustani vocalist Dr. Asmita Mishra mesmerized the audience through presenting various Ragas and seasonal songs such as kajri and chaiti.
The event began with students from music department singing a patriotic song. The program was blended classical and patriotism by Ramprapanna with playing Sare Jahan Se Accha on sitar, and Asmita singing raga Desh.
They were accompanied by Hrushikesh Mahurkar on Tabla, Rahul Deshpande on harmonium and ‘Tanpura accompaniment was provided be Prerana and Namruta Kumari. Then l the program was organized by cultural Coordinator Dr. Aranyakumar, and compared by Rahul. Several students from music department volunteered in organizing the event.
Faculty from various departments including Dr. Pragya, Dr. Pavani, Dr. Prakash, Prof. Ashoka and large number of serious classical listeners within and from outside the campus attended the event. Audience enjoyed performances with a spellbound silence.
The response from student community was notably enthusiastic as the auditorium was over crowded by the students and accommodated themselves on the stage behind the performers, the corridor and standing at the entrance as well.
