Dr. K Chandra Shekar, an alumnus of the Integrated M.A. Economics program (2008-13) at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the renowned Centre for Development Studies (CDS), an institute under the joint aegis of the Central Government and the Government of Kerala. He is also associated with the University of Johannesburg as a Senior Research Associate.

He earned Ph.D. in Economics from the Centre for Development Studies, affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). He also received training in the Economics of Innovation at UNU-MERIT, Netherlands, as a Ph.D. Intern.

Before joining CDS, He served as an Economic Officer (Gazetted) at the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. He has made significant contributions to government reports and research publications, including the Economic Survey 2023-24 and the National Manufacturing Innovation Survey (NMIS) 2021-22, conducted by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
