The Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Library, University of Hyderabad, successfully organized an online training session titled “Mastering Springer Nature Link: Smart Research Strategies for University of Hyderabad” on 12 May 2026 through GoToWebinar for faculty members, research scholars, and students of the University. The programme was conducted with the objective of enhancing awareness and effective utilization of Springer Nature e-resources subscribed to by the University under various initiatives including ONOS.
The session commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. O. Sivasankar Prasad, University Librarian (I/c), IGM Library, University of Hyderabad. In his address, he highlighted the growing importance of scholarly e-resources, digital research tools, and information literacy skills in supporting quality teaching, learning, and research activities in higher education institutions.

The training session was conducted by Ms. Alpana Sagwal, Head – Customer Engagement (EEMEA, CA & India), Springer Nature. The session provided a comprehensive overview of Springer Nature Link and various tools and services useful for academic research and scholarly communication.
The programme covered several important aspects, including an overview of ONOS and Springer Nature e-resources available to the University community, effective navigation and use of Springer Nature Link, and advanced search strategies for faster and more relevant literature discovery. It also highlighted personalization tools such as saved searches, alerts, and account features, along with citation and reference management support. In addition, the session introduced AI-enabled features such as “Chat with Paper” for interactive engagement with research articles. Further, guidance was provided on identifying suitable journals for publication, understanding journal scope, metrics, and impact indicators, as well as information regarding APC (Article Processing Charges) support for open access publishing.

The session also featured practical demonstrations and an interactive Q&A segment, during which participants actively engaged with the speaker and clarified their queries related to research discovery and scholarly publishing support services.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Gone Rangappanaidu, who expressed his gratitude to the resource person, Ms. Alpana Sagwal, for conducting the insightful and informative session. He also thanked the University authorities, faculty members, research scholars, students, and the staff of the IGM Library for their active participation and support. Special appreciation was extended to the IGML technical team and staff members for their efforts in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the online training programme.

The programme received an enthusiastic response from faculty members, research scholars, and students, reflecting the continued commitment of the IGM Library towards promoting effective use of digital scholarly resources and strengthening research support services at the University of Hyderabad.
