Freedom Fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s 150th birth anniversary celebrated at UoH and SSCTU

 

The University of Hyderabad (UoH) and Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University (SSCTU), being mentored by the former, celebrated the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, which marks the 150th birth anniversary of freedom fighter, Bhagwan Birsa Munda, on 15th November 2024.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Prof. B J Rao, Vice- Chancellor of UoH and SSCTU; Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar of UoH and SSCTU, along with the university fraternity, offered floral tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Prof. B J Rao also spoke on the life and challenges faced by Birsa Munda losing his life at an early age of 25 years fighting the oppression of the British.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Later a video on Bhagwan Birsa Munda was played.

 

The celebrations ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Devesh Nigam.

 

 

 

 

 

At SSCTU transit campus at Jakaram, Mulugu, it was celebrated in coordination with the Government of Telangana administration. Shri P. Balram Naik, Member of Parliament, Mahabubabad constituency, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Sri Jatothu Hussain, Member, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST); Dr. A. Sharath, IAS, Principal Secretary – Tribal Welfare Dept, Government of Telangana; Sri Divakara T S, IAS, Collector and District Magistrate of Mulugu District; Sri V. Sarveshwar Reddy, Deputy Director, Tribal Welfare Dept, Government of Telangana also attended.
