Dr. Banani Basistha, an IoE Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, specializing in Indian Psychology, presently carrying out her research work under the mentorship of Prof JSR Prasad, University of Hyderabad recently participated and presented a joint research paper titled “Monsoon to Autumn Ṛtu Sandhi: Indian perspective on Well-being” at the International Conference on Indian Psychology and Mental Health.

This paper delved deep into understanding the effects of Ṛtu changes on wellbeing, particularly focusing on the monsoon-autumn Ṛtu Sandhi. The regimens (caryā) associated with varying seasons are termed as ‘Ṛtu caryā’, which denotes dietary and lifestyle adjustments that one should adopt in response to seasonal shifts to ensure optimal health and wellbeing. Thus, this paper attempted to make a roadmap for navigating the transition from monsoon to autumn, by identifying the changes on wellbeing and emphasizing the need for harmony and balance.

This conference was hosted by Chinmaya Viswavidyapeeth, Adi Sankara Nilayam in Ernakulam, Kerala from 1st December to 3rd December 2023. The conference provided a platform for scholars and researchers to discuss and present their work in the realm of Indian Psychology and Mental Health.
