We’re thrilled to announce that Ms. Nanda Deebu Sheeja, an alumnus of the Department of History, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad, has received full AHRC funding (approximately ₹1.5 crore for 3 years) for her PhD research at the University of Leeds, UK!

Her proposed research, “Between Conservation and Control: The Shifting Legal and Cultural Agencies of Elephants and Cattle in India (1850–1970),” explores the complex relationships between humans and animals in colonial India.

Ms. Nanda was the Women’s Topper in History for the academic year 2022-24. We’re proud of her accomplishment and grateful for the guidance of her professors and the University of Hyderabad.
